Outer Leading Edge – Part 6

Well, once again I’m a bit behind in my videos even while I am still making progress on the project.  Picking up where I left off, the weather and my schedule started working together and I was able to get outside and prime a bunch of parts.  With the wing spars on the cradle it was time to finish off the other OLE so I can store them out of the way.

Just like before I start off with preparing the splice strip, then dimpling all of the ribs and stiffeners.  I then work on the skin, removing the protective film and deburring all the holes.  If you are watching the timelapse, around the 1:47 mark you can see that I take out the Dremel tool as I consider making the modifications for the stall warning parts.

After a lot of thought, I ended up not installing a stall warning system in the wing.  That sounds like a dumb idea, however my thought is that I’m installing an AOA system and having both an AOA and a stall warning system seems to be a little unnecessary.  I’m sure others have differing opinions, but for now, that is the plan.  I went ahead and dimpled the holes like I did in the right OLE, and filled them with rivets.  I still plan on putting in the access panel (see next update), so if I have a change of heart I can figure something out.

With that done, I’m ready to assemble.  I get some help from both my little girls, as well as my parents who were visiting.  With everything dimpled and final drilled, it all goes together just like it should.
